MATATAG Curriculum: Literacy and values focused thru fewer subject areas

The newly implemented MATATAG Curriculum, which will replace the regular eight subject areas with five starting in the next school year, places a strong emphasis on reading literacy, "makabansa," and mathematics in order to foster the development of active learners.

According to Chief Education Supervisor Mary Jeanne B. Aldeguer, the subject areas have been revised to help students learn new initiative and real-world application skills while also being prepared to function as citizens in the outside world.
